bobatl Posted October 8, 2015 Share #1 Posted October 8, 2015 Barrel assembly for the hub of a 23E50 propeller as used on B-17, C-47 and many other WWII aircraft. This is of interest because of the green color. An old-timer in the propeller parts business told me that late in the war, Hamilton Standard began using a chromate treatment on their cadmium plated parts that gave them a green color. The more commonly seen chromate treatment for cadmium is one that gives a gold tint. So if any modeler wants to paint the hubs on their props green, they can astound the judges by explaining that they modelled an airplane with late production propellers.
