I got this jacket a few days ago at a local Goodwill for $10! I was surprised to see everything was still with it.post-157121-0-02476800-1444324061.jpgpost-157121-0-36440500-1444324071.jpg

Since there is no patch on the right sleeve maybe someone made it for a WW2 vet? I know there was no PFC in WW2 but maybe he just went by the new E-3 rank? Just a thought. The ribbons and 96th DIV patch make sense together.

Good possibility. Vets often like to wear the uniform for special (reunion, etc) functions or for special family photographs.

You might be able to cross reference PH & BSM recipient's and see if any are from your area. You know he was infantry so you can cancel out all the support units and was below the rank of SGT.
