Hello Robert due to being a pin back and not a post back example it most likely is late ww2 or korean war era. The star indicates it was a second award. Hope this helps

As mentioned, the star indicates it is a second award. That places it as no Korean War or later since there was no way to earn two awards for WWII alone

I was thinking that, but what if there was a bronze star conversion and he earned one the end of the war ? would that result as 2 from ww2 ?? Just a thought

Subsequent awards (and a star) were not approved until 1951. So, it's no older than that. But, based on its appearance, I would say it is early 1950's era. Nice badge.

It is at least Korean War. The CMB wasn't established till late in WW2.It's like the CIB, but obviously for medics.So say you were a COMBAT medic in WW2 you would be awarded the basic badge(no star).But then you served in Korea as a COMBAT medic you would be awarded what you have.Another star for another War.
