devincu Posted September 29, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 29, 2015 Hey guys I found this gun at a local flea market the other day. The seller thought it was a toy gun and had it priced $10.00 and when I picked it up I could tell it wasn't a toy so I purchased it right away even though the hammer is broken. The barrel has the date that appears to be 1858 and some lettering that I cant make out. Can someone tell me what I have here? I know very little about this era of guns. Thanks, Devin

gwb123 Posted September 29, 2015 Share #8 Posted September 29, 2015 The engraving suggests a civilian pistol rather than military. Of course, that doesn't rule out it being used during the Civil War or later.
Alec Posted September 29, 2015 Share #9 Posted September 29, 2015 Looks like an Allen & Wheelock 22 pistol.

ron norman Posted September 30, 2015 Share #13 Posted September 30, 2015 The revolver is an Allen & Wheelock probably 32 caliber side hammer revolver probably a second model estimated that over 1000 made in 1859 to 1862 . Value range 200 in good shape up to 800 in fine condition. Ron Norman
MikeMc. Posted January 31, 2016 Share #14 Posted January 31, 2016 Are you going to replace the hammer? If so, I would keep the original one close too
ksp45 Posted January 31, 2016 Share #15 Posted January 31, 2016 looks like a allen&wheelock 32 rimfire
rambob Posted February 3, 2016 Share #16 Posted February 3, 2016 I have an exact clone of your pistol, but with a complete hammer and on the barrel it says Ethan Allen & Co. Worchester Mass. It is indeed a .32 rimfire chambered pistol and I have original ammunition for it to prove this. Bob
