Sully Posted September 22, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 22, 2015 I recently picked up two M1949 sleeping bags and the one has a contract for a manufacturer in Japan. Has anyone else seen foreign made sleeping bags? Also are these rare/uncommon?
B229 Posted September 22, 2015 Share #2 Posted September 22, 2015 I've never seen a foreign contract sleeping bag, but this was certainly done during the occupation period to boost the local economy and simplify logistics. You usually see material like this made in European countries so this example is certainly less common. Interesting that it was contracted by the Far East Command (FEC) in 1954. I'm betting lots of guys who served in Korea would have wished that was done a few years earlier.
Sully Posted September 22, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted September 22, 2015 I can believe that guys in Korea would have wanted some of these. I have never seen any foreign made US items post WW2. Other than some contracted ammunition.
