Finds over the past week

This grouping is from a guy who I believe started out with the Coastal Arty.

I know he was with the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team at the Battle Of The Bulge. I have to research him some more.

The only things that aren't named to him are the armband, overseas cap and of course the 1922 German coin in the picture (on the armband).

I also forgot to include a named pocket bible in the picture.

The shipping tag on the barracks bag is also named to him which has his last address as 50? PIR.

BUT the barracks bag is named to another soldier from the same company in the 517th. The original owner of the bag served with the Coastal Arty, then went to jump school in Rome, joined the 517th and fought near Nice (France), the Bulge, Soy, and Hutton. Served with the 82nd during the occupation. Received the PH and BS.

So this guy was given the barracks bag or borrowed it!

My thoughts exactly when buying it.

It came from a reputable person who bought it from the vet. I figured if I didn't buy it someone else would. Now I find myself thinking about waiting a couple of years and asking the vet if he wants it back. Also wondering if he would just sell it again.

That Cuba Medal is AWESOME. I've never seen one in such pristine condition.
