otter42 Posted September 16, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 16, 2015 Nice old jacket, but missing spec tag, and patch removed off front!!! Any ideas on era? And the patch looks like a "T" patch, was this maybe used for a sports jacket ant this was a school letter? Or was there a military patch designed like this? Any thoughts appreciated. doinworkinvans Posted September 16, 2015 Share #6 Posted September 16, 2015 looks to be period replaced cuffs and waist as well that patch does not appear to be a squadron patch of anything I have seen. Looks like a University of Tennessee "T" .... could be another school

otter42 Posted September 17, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted September 17, 2015 Have you ever seen a school use a jacket like this for a letterman jacket???
Survival Posted September 17, 2015 Share #9 Posted September 17, 2015 I could see some 1950s or 60s High School or College student making his Dad's A2 into a letterman jacket. Talk about an attention getter!
doyler Posted September 17, 2015 Share #10 Posted September 17, 2015 I agree... I owned an A2 where the pilots daughter wore her dads jacket to college in the late 60s.Before he let her wear it he removed the painting with laquer thinner. It wasnt what we now call politically correct....the image of water melon being eaten by....well I will leave it at that. Another vet here had a son who took his jump jacket to school. It had a 507th pocket patch on it.Left it in his locker and it was stolen. There was a kid in my sisters class back in the 70s that wore a german camo parka to school as a winter jacket.I recall seeing him on the bus with it. Im sure lots of dads old gear got worn over the years to college or school.
