doinworkinvans Posted September 15, 2015 Share #4 Posted September 15, 2015 to me it looks good from first glance the blackinton I used to have...had the blackiton stamped in the back of the shield Also the back of the star was "indented" I would wait for a few more to weigh in This is what mine was like - from bob schwartz webiste http://www.ww2wings.com/wings/usaaf/commandpilot/quetelblackintonaafcommandpilot.shtml
pconrad02 Posted September 15, 2015 Share #5 Posted September 15, 2015 I personally would pass on this one, the hallmark is wrong, the star looks to be soldered on with "fuzzy" details. Hardware is wrong too. Check a real one on Bob's site: http://www.ww2wings.com/wings/usaaf/commandpilot/quetelblackintonaafcommandpilot.shtml ( as linked above)
pfrost Posted September 15, 2015 Share #6 Posted September 15, 2015 I agree, the hallmark is wrong. But the wing looks OK from what I can see. This pattern periodically shows up in an unmarked version, but with a different back. If it were me, I would tread carefully, especially if the price was really high. No matter what, I think the hallmark is fake.
warroom1 Posted September 15, 2015 Share #7 Posted September 15, 2015 it the price is right grab it my 2 cents
rustywings Posted September 16, 2015 Share #8 Posted September 16, 2015 I agree with Paul on this one. Many red flags, including the poor Blackinton hallmark, sloppy attached star and wreath, and the findings on the reverse...
