Has anyone seen this AFL patch before, or have any idea what unit or organization it represents?

And what the heck is this lightning bolt patch?

I'm pretty sure the bottom one is for the 12th Spec. Forces Group. I've seen a couple threads on these so I'm sure someone can tell you exactly how it is used.

I think the "tab" was worn either on the beret or on the shoulder , maybe front above ribbons, I'm sorry not much help , I saw something about this some years ago .

the small tab is called a "candy stripe" don't know the official name. From what I remember they were worn by non special forces qualified personnel assigned to SF units. Worn on the Beret in place of the Flash.

The official nomenclature was Group Rcognition Bar, with this one being for the 12th SFG. As stated above it was worn on the beret below the DUI (enlisted) or rank (officers) by non SF qualified personnel. It was commonly referred to as a "candy stripe"', "candy bar"' or "striker bar".
