Tonomachi Posted July 2, 2020 Share #76 Posted July 2, 2020 There are supposedly two Seal Team reserve units which are ST-17 and ST-18. I have yet to come across a Seal Team 17 patch.
Salvage Sailor Posted August 30, 2020 Author Share #77 Posted August 30, 2020 NAVAL AIR STATION WASHINGTON (ANACOSTIA to ANDREWS) NARTU WASHINGTON (NAVAL AIR RESERVE TRAINING UNIT ANDREWS) Due to Anacostia's short runways, the Naval Air Station moved to Andrews Air Force Base in 1958 to facilitate jet operations. The transfer to Andrews AFB was complete by December 1961, concurrent with the commissioning of the new Naval Air Facility. In April 1972, NARTU Washington became Naval Air Reserve Unit Washington with the primary mission of training Selected Reservists. NARU included VFP-206, VFP-306, VR-42 and 20 other tactical and non-tactical units. Since 1976, the logistics support mission of NAF Washington has included administrative transport flight operations and transient service support to arriving aircraft. The vendor selling these patches had other designs for different naval units all made with this type of silver grayish embroidery. It could be a fantasy patch. River Rat 1 Posted March 23 Share #90 Posted March 23 After getting off active duty after my first enlistment I went into the Naval Reserve and managed to get a retirement. First unit was SIMA 520 at Alameda Naval Air at the sail loft. A boring job made 50 FT boat covers and 2000 lube oil bags for the USS Enterprise and flight deck nets with WW2 era singer sowing machines. If Special Boat Unit XI did not grab me from that unit, I might have not finished my 20 years. Sima Alameda the only patch I can't find. Reserve units I was with. Sima 520, SBU XI, Cargo Battalion 3, MIUW 103. Patches I have. Funny every ship I served on when on active duty now razor blades, and every reserve command has been decommissioned makes you feel very old.
