bootsandbooks Posted September 8, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 8, 2015 This is a somewhat belated post, but I was reminded of this event by a recent thread about another 4th Division Veteran wounded in the same battle. I had to double check my files and can't believe it has been 17+ years. At that time I was fairly active in the 22nd Infantry Regiment Society, primarily trying to locate comrades from my Vietnam service time. I followed up on a query from the daughter of a WWII soldier who was trying to locate his comrade from 1944. It was one of the easiest finds I ever made, and the most rewarding. Both Mr Stafford and Mr Stephens have since passed on but were able to enjoy many years of a renewed friendship. I still keep in touch with the daughter who made the query.
