horsecavalry Posted September 3, 2015 Share #2 Posted September 3, 2015 I'm not a USMC expert by any means, but I don't think that enlisted Marines had hat cords. I think that only officers did, a scarlet/gold cord if memory serves correctly. I checked my (only) reference book, "USMC Uniforms and Equipment, 1941-1945" by B. Alberti and L. Pradier. Pages 28, 29, and 32 discuss the "field hat" and have some pix. There is no mention of hat cords and none of the pix show hat cords. But I did not find anything explicit that said "....there were no hat cords..." for enlisted Marines. Page 82 discusses the officer's field hat and the cords, it also has some pix.
