Bugme Posted August 26, 2015 Share #1 Posted August 26, 2015 Living only an hour from Oshkosh, the news that Oshkosh Truck was awarded the JLTV contract was exciting for our economy but, most exciting, this is a new measure of safety for our troops: http://www.defensenews.com/story/defense/policy-budget/industry/2015/08/25/oshkosh-wins-jltv-award/32278319/

Corpsman_1941 Posted August 26, 2015 Share #3 Posted August 26, 2015 Polish Army is using very similar vehicles since 2008- armored vechicle AMZ Żubr http://freeisoft.pl/2011/02/smochod-opancerzony-zubr-nowy-sprzet-dla-polskiego-wojska/ (sorry, just Polish language site) they are produced as infantry armored vechicle, medical truck for Army and police armored vechicle, they are manufactured in Kutno, near Warsaw, Oshkosh looks very similar to Polish Żubr
Charlie Flick Posted August 26, 2015 Share #4 Posted August 26, 2015 The image below shows the Oshkosh J-LTV vehicle which won the contract. They will build about 17,000 of them with the Marines getting the first batch. Regards, Charlie
Bugme Posted August 26, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted August 26, 2015 Looks a lot like the SdKfz. 222. Of course it does, and you thought the PASGT looking like a Stahlhelm was an accident?

chief_919 Posted August 28, 2015 Share #7 Posted August 28, 2015 Good- of all the companies entered Oskosh produced the best quality stuff and had the best service of any of them. I hope they took the noted issues with the M-ATV and fixed them for this one- things like not enough room inside for all the spare ammo and barrels for the gunner and all the other stuff you need when you roll out the wire.
