green hell Posted August 23, 2015 Share #1 Posted August 23, 2015 Hi all - I have a 1917 m1911 in a 1914 dated Rock Island Arsenal holster. The holster has a leg tie-down strap with buckle and a pivot point above the flap. It attaches to the belt with the standard wire hanger. The officer who carried it was an engineer captain. Would he have worn a web belt or a leather Sam Browne belt with his field uniform? I would like to display it, but need to know what type of rig to get. I think the Sam Browne would have more likely been worn with his dress uniform. I am sure examples can be found otherwise but I think the web would have been more common in the field.
