Here's another one of my bringbacks. I bought this French berthier off of a Vietnam marine who brought this home along with a French Lebel rifle. The story he gave me was that he picked this off of a VC sniper in 67 and he sent it home along with some other more personal effects. Sadly the paperwork was lost during one of our major hurricanes but I felt confident about his story and bought the rifle then and there (with a price tag of $50 for a mostly matching berthier how could I go wrong). When I got home I researched it and turns out the model of the rifle I bought was made for troops stationed in French Indochina following WW1 and I tracked the serial number to being finished and sent over there in 1926 where it stayed until the Vietnam War. It's missing its clearing rod and has a mismatched trigger guard but it has the wear and tear of being lugged through the jungle for 40ish years.
