We're doing a live shoot this weekend, and I want to try some buck and ball. I've made .58 and .69 cartridges plenty of times, but never the B&B. Does anyone have a line drawing? Or, can I just crowd into my .69 template?

Thanks.

Mark

Have several dug and one non-dug buck and ball cartridges. on mine, the 3 buckshot sit on top of the ball. It is tied at the cartridge top as any other cartridge, and again between the buck and ball (just enough to lock the buckshot in place, sort of forming a single strand ledge on the ball).

Interesting-so, it follows that the top is torn off, the powder goes in, then the buck then the ball. I have not come across a period reference that states the ball goes in with the paper for a normal cartridge load, although a lot of us reenactors assume that it does.

What are your thoughts on that?
