Ouch, pains me to think of that noble old girl sitting out in the open like that. She will be missing valuable parts soon unless the local constabulary takes her under their wing!

Pretty interesting. We have one that was donated by an AG school complete with engine. What is also interesting about this particular UH-1H is it is lacking many of the post-Vietnam modifications such as the wire strike protection kit and nose mounted AN/APR-39(V)1 Radar Detecting Set (RDS). The cockpit did get the black paint over the gull gray which was brought about by the use of NODS.

Very cool photos and story, thanks for posting.

 

I too hope the idiot vandals will leave her alone since she is out in the open like that (ground level, no fence)...
