Eddy.502 Posted August 15, 2015 Share #1 Posted August 15, 2015 Just thinking if anyone had any shots of US soldiers wearing Brit gear in ww2. Thanks for the info.
11b inf Posted August 16, 2015 Share #2 Posted August 16, 2015 to answer your question yes there are pictures of U.S. Infantrymen using British clothing and equipment.. some of the few pictures I have seen were of the first U.S. Army RANGER Bn's trained at the Commando schools in Scotland that went on the landing at Dieppe in 1942...the picture was shot on the dock after the return back to England.. the Rangers had cap comforters on their heads, Brit navy blue life belts, some had battle dress blouses and if memory serves me right toggle ropes and gas mask bags used as haversacks...also latter in the war there were severe clothing and equipment shortages in American Infantry outfits during the winter months and these shortages were made up with the issue of British ground sheet/rain capes ,ammo boots, cap comforters.. vince g. 11B Inf. ThompsonSavage Posted August 16, 2015 Share #6 Posted August 16, 2015 British made gas brassard. Mostly associated with the Normandy landings but actually used throughout the war.
Ronnie Posted August 16, 2015 Share #7 Posted August 16, 2015 I can't find the photo but in one of my books is a photo of a U.S. Paratrooper in one of the French towns on D-day+ that is wearing a British web holster. Most likely with a .45 in it. Ronnie
