patches Posted March 27, 2016 #51 Posted March 27, 2016 Yeah I remembered this post of mine from the WWII Couples topic in Photographs. This British Soldier looking like Lyle Lovett, both in facial features and lank, and HAIR
Chap15 Posted March 30, 2016 #52 Posted March 30, 2016 Not my favorite military man, but one of my favorite celebrities.
krautpot Posted April 10, 2016 #53 Posted April 10, 2016 Not my favorite military man, but one of my favorite celebrities. ?
world war I nerd Posted April 11, 2016 Author #54 Posted April 11, 2016 WW I, 2nd Army Engineer who looks like a more youthful Lou Dobbs, ex host of a CNN show and current host of a show on the Fox Business Network and an occasional guest on the O'Reilly Factor. patches Posted April 18, 2016 #55 Posted April 18, 2016 How about this guy, a Ft Dix Basic Trng Co CO 1961. Dennis Quaid looks a lot like him, especially when Quaid portrayed Gordo in The Right Stuff, couldn't find a real good image of Quaid in The Right Stuff, mostly ones with Quaid with shades on, or in a space helmet, but found this one of him.
patches Posted May 3, 2016 #56 Posted May 3, 2016 This 1970 Armor Recon Trooper at Ft Knox and Dean Stockwell.
patches Posted May 3, 2016 #57 Posted May 3, 2016 This Pre WWII Soldier was originally posted by BOLO up in Helmets, and other members commented that he looks like Spencer Tracy, I think so too.
willysmb44 Posted May 3, 2016 #58 Posted May 3, 2016 Man I can't get over the Brad Pitt one, absolute spitting image of him I agree, my jaw hit the floor on that one.
patches Posted May 9, 2016 #59 Posted May 9, 2016 Call me crazy, but these two look alike one General Guy S. Meloy, Jr. the other Colonel Wilhelm Klink.
willysmb44 Posted May 11, 2016 #60 Posted May 11, 2016 Ironically, he served in the US Army in WW2, mostly in Special Services. But played WW2 Germans several times. John Banner, as SGT Schultz, served in the AAF during WW2: Hard to believe that's the same man, huh?
world war I nerd Posted May 29, 2016 Author #61 Posted May 29, 2016 At first I thought this Civil war sutler looked like a scruffy Bob Dylan. But when I compared him to that singer it dawned on me that he actually looked more like the British actor Christian bail or vice versa ...
patches Posted May 30, 2016 #63 Posted May 30, 2016 Fun stuff. Lookalikes1.jpg We know who the top celebrity is, Edward Everett Horton, but who's the one on the bottom Lloyd something or other??
aerialbridge Posted May 30, 2016 #64 Posted May 30, 2016 We know who the top celebrity is, Edward Everett Horton, but who's the one on the bottom Lloyd something or other?? Right. It's Harold Lloyd, best known for his silent comedies and stunts that he did himself. Here's Harold hanging out at 9th and Broadway in LA, from 1923's "Safety Last".
BOLO Posted May 30, 2016 #65 Posted May 30, 2016 WW2 US soldier / actor Dustin Hoffman at a young age
patches Posted May 30, 2016 #66 Posted May 30, 2016 Right. It's Harold Lloyd, best known for his silent comedies and stunts that he did himself. Here's Harold hanging out at 9th and Broadway in LA, from 1923's "Safety Last". Yes indeedy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Lloyd For some reason I always thought Lloyd seved in the Army briefly in the Great War, apparently not. Unknown on his draft status as we can tell.
BOLO Posted May 30, 2016 #67 Posted May 30, 2016 Elderly PAVN / VC / local Militia / Fighter and Uncle Ho Chi Minh leader of North Vietnam
aerialbridge Posted May 30, 2016 #68 Posted May 30, 2016 Yes indeedy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Lloyd For some reason I always thought Lloyd seved in the Army briefly in the Great War, apparently not. Unknown on his draft status as we can tell. You got my curiosity going. Lloyd's one of my favorite silent stars, probably because of his amazing stunt work-- with only one complete hand from a stunt explosion in 1919. He put exempt on his WW1 draft card- reason, to care for his father. Lloyd was exactly 35 days younger than my grampa, another Midwesterner, who also claimed an exemption on his WW1 draft card- to care for his 60 year old widowed mother but ended up enlisting in the Navy.

patches Posted July 11, 2016 #71 Posted July 11, 2016 I just found this photo just now, and at first I thought it was a still from movie PLATOON right, This GI looks like frigging Charlie Sheen I thought .
willysmb44 Posted July 11, 2016 #72 Posted July 11, 2016 Actually, I think in the eye and cheeks, that M-60 gunner looks a lot like Christopher Reeves...
aerialbridge Posted July 12, 2016 #73 Posted July 12, 2016 Great thread! And it's even more fun to make Patches (or anyone else) ID who the lookalikes are. I think the celebrity will get identified before the military man. Hint- He was a naval officer.

aerialbridge Posted July 12, 2016 #75 Posted July 12, 2016 Got me C'mon, Patches-- you da' man! I know you can get this one. Neither of them are obscure--- just really old. The officer was a flag officer and the celebrity, with a mug like that, was from the Golden Age of Comedy.
