atb Posted August 7, 2015 Share #1 Posted August 7, 2015 New in packages. Anyone ever see anything like these? Embroidered non-NCO enlisted rank insignia on leadership tabs. Manufacturer's error, military school or something else?
ehrentitle Posted August 7, 2015 Share #2 Posted August 7, 2015 These green "leader tabs" that are designed to be worn on the Gore-Tex jacket. By regulation only combat arms Soldiers were supposed to wear these, however that was often ignored. It looks like these came from the recent dump of large lots of ACU and color insignia on E-bay by Bradley's Army Surplus outside Ft. Drum, NY. ehrentitle Posted August 7, 2015 Share #3 Posted August 7, 2015 AR 670-1 specifies what positions can wear these Leadership Identification Insignia. So technically, for example, if you are a non-NCO tank commander or section leader it's possible a Specialist or PFC might be able to wear the insignia. However I would image that it would be relatively rare. Perhaps that's why Bradley's had so many to part with. The link below provides a good summary of the Reg and a short history of the Leadership Tabs: www.armystudyguide.com/content/army_board_study_guide_topics/uniforms/leaders-identification-in.shtml
ehrentitle Posted August 7, 2015 Share #4 Posted August 7, 2015 Apparently the authorization for wear of theses Leadership Tabs were expanded in 2004 to Combat Support and Combat Service Support soldiers per the ALARACT posted on the webpage I provided the link for above.
