ocsfollowme Posted August 4, 2015 Share #5 Posted August 4, 2015 It is the pin that is used to catapult an aircraft. Once it reaches the correct pressure it breaks away. I win!

ocsfollowme Posted August 4, 2015 Share #7 Posted August 4, 2015 My dad gave me a blue and yellow one for the S-2 and S-3 vikings. They color coded the pins for the aircraft....which corresponded to the weight of the craft.

hink441 Posted August 4, 2015 Author Share #9 Posted August 4, 2015 Ski is the winner by one minute!!! The item is a catapult hold-back fitting. This one is for an A-6 Intruder. They are designed to break in half when the catapult fires. One half stays with the Aircraft and one half remains on deck. Anybody else have some items to show?? ocsfollowme Posted August 15, 2015 Share #11 Posted August 15, 2015 Here is one that my dad had. An unused one is in one of the ready rooms on board the USS Midway. I believe this was for the S2 or S3s. When I was doing my docent training on board the USS Midway I learned that the catapults went off weight, so there were various weight categories that the planes fell into and I believe that these pins were color coded as such.
