Ho-Nez Posted August 2, 2015 Share #1 Posted August 2, 2015 Another user suggested I post this thrift store find over here. 8.5" x 8.5" wooden plaque, featuring a Donald-esque duck. The drawing looks a little too crude to have been a product of the Disney team, but it's certainly inspired by their work.

Ho-Nez Posted August 2, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted August 2, 2015 Nice find. Any idea of the time frame connected with this piece. According to wikipedia, NAS Lake City was commissioned in 1942 and "regular military operations terminated in March 1946." I'd assume it's from that period, but I suppose it's possible it was made later as a souvenir for a reunion or something. The graphics are screen printed or applied as a water-transfer decal, either of which could be from that era.

It definitely has a forties 'look' about it, but it's a nice piece of history regardless of the era.
