Naval Air Station (Lake City, Fla) plaque with cartoon duck.

Another user suggested I post this thrift store find over here. 8.5" x 8.5" wooden plaque, featuring a Donald-esque duck. The drawing looks a little too crude to have been a product of the Disney team, but it's certainly inspired by their work.

Nice find.

Any idea of the time frame connected with this piece.

According to wikipedia, NAS Lake City was commissioned in 1942 and "regular military operations terminated in March 1946." I'd assume it's from that period, but I suppose it's possible it was made later as a souvenir for a reunion or something.

 

The graphics are screen printed or applied as a water-transfer decal, either of which could be from that era.

It definitely has a forties 'look' about it, but it's a nice piece of history regardless of the era.
