Teamski Posted July 31, 2015 Share #9 Posted July 31, 2015 Wow!!! Now that is a nice jacket. Straight out of Shipdham. I spent a lot of time walking around that field when I was stationed in the UK. My buddy lived but a quarter of a mile away. -Ski

tball101 Posted July 31, 2015 Author Share #11 Posted July 31, 2015 Someone had mentioned this might be an AN-J-3 jacket

KASTAUFFER Posted July 31, 2015 Share #13 Posted July 31, 2015 Is there a label inside? It does look more like an AN-J-3A than an A-2. It doesn't have the snaps on the edge of the collars, and does not look there are hooks at the neck. It could also be a private purchase jacket, but I am leaning more towards it being an AN-J-3A. tball101 Posted July 31, 2015 Author Share #14 Posted July 31, 2015 The tag on the inside had been removed, but you can still see the stitching.
KASTAUFFER Posted July 31, 2015 Share #15 Posted July 31, 2015 is the lining cotton or does it have a glossy look? Pics of the lining will help. Kurt

sundance Posted July 31, 2015 Share #18 Posted July 31, 2015 Doesn't the AJ-J-3 have a fur collar? In any event, great jacket.

KASTAUFFER Posted July 31, 2015 Share #20 Posted July 31, 2015 Here is a thread that shows all the differences between the jackets. The AN-J-3A does have a fur collar. Its the AN-J-3 I was thinking of. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/15380-wwii-us-navy-flight-jackets-m-422-m-422a-m-421a-m-445a-an-j-3a-an-6552/?hl=m-422a
