US Victory Museum Posted July 28, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 28, 2015 New York National Guard cartridge belt. This was likely producedbetween 1912 and 1917.I know very little about these. All the ones that I have seen, andthis one that I own is not manufacturer marked. Construction iscrude and the belt grommets are not attached in a symmetrical mannerlike the 1912 pistol belts produced by Mills or Russell.The basic components may have been supplied in an unfinished stateand then Depot manufactured. The upper and lower rows of grommetsare used as rivets to attached the pouches to the belt. The qualitycontrol is abysmal, as several of the New York state seal buttonsare attached upside down, and are incapable of being rotated into a"normal" position. Once the NYNG were called into service, the NY Guard was raised to protect the sate's vitals and such. Supposedly, these belts were made for these units in 1917. RustyCanteen Posted April 7, 2018 Share #8 Posted April 7, 2018 The Library of Congress uploaded a ton of photos to their website (and I think maybe they have an Instagram page?) which include a lot of Bain News Service images from around 1909-1916.
