Bob Hudson Posted August 5, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 5, 2008 I've had this small red "The Marine Notebook" for long time: it has all sorts of useful info, including this typewritten page on sighting the M-14. Most of the info in the notebook is commercially-printed, but this was typewritten which leads me to believe this may be from from about 1959 when the M-4 was first produced (the book has charts of payscales as of 1955, which further lends to the late 50's origin). Old Marine Posted August 5, 2008 Share #2 Posted August 5, 2008 We had the same little red books at Parris Island in 1974. The "Red Monster" they called it and it always had to be in the right back pocket of your sateen trousers.
