338thRCT Posted July 24, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 24, 2015 Obtained these two unopened bottles of Saki ( at least I think that's what is in them) from a USMC Mess facility which may have been on Okinawa as the man who had owned the items had been through there on the way to Viet Nam in 1967. I suppose they could be from anywhere over there, but don't know for sure. I've never tasted Saki , but I don't want to open these to try it. 50 years old...hmmm? Does it improve with age? 338thRCT Posted July 24, 2015 Author Share #2 Posted July 24, 2015 ...and their USMC tags.I'm guessing the number was a means of stock control.
thefallenbuddha Posted July 24, 2015 Share #3 Posted July 24, 2015 Yes, it is sake. Sake is more similar to beer than, say, whisky, so drinking a roughly fifty year old bottle of cheap beer from a military mess would basically be the same as drinking that. Great collectible bottles, though, with the old Marine Corps label. Nice find!
AnDuc49 Posted July 25, 2015 Share #4 Posted July 25, 2015 Sake it's just like water, just chug it! Great items though, I remeber my grandpa having pictures of those similar looking that bottles his brother got from the marines.
