268th C.A. Posted July 23, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 23, 2015 I don't normally post this stuff, but. This helmet was obtained last month from a distant family member who inherited it, that did not want it. Its kind of rough after it was in the basement for 50 years (surface rust). The family gave me what they knew, it was there Granddad's brother, Sgt. Grover Cleveland Messick Jr. he was a combat medic in the 6th Armored Division (H.Q.) some of my research & was awarded a Silver Star for bringing back wounded during a river crossing, after multiple trips in his ambulance, it was shot full of holes. I would like to get the information on his award. I have found a few things on ancestry. Should I try to obtain records form NPR ?Thanks for looking....
