Kurt_E Posted January 5, 2018 #228 Posted January 5, 2018 Some shots from "Presidio" (1988). Allmighty Sean Connery as LTC Caldwell. Interesting to see officers wearing marksmanship badges.
patches Posted January 20, 2018 #229 Posted January 20, 2018 Earl Holliman as DePayster in the 1970 television movie classic TRIBES, Korea Vietnam vet, four Purple Hearts, looks like he's got a Army Solders Medal ribbon there next to it,

patches Posted January 20, 2018 #231 Posted January 20, 2018 Its actually the Navy MUC Right you are, came out in 1967 so they did a good job there in the depiction. Still looking with no success for of Darren McGavin (Drake) and his rack.
Kurt_E Posted January 23, 2018 #232 Posted January 23, 2018 Some screenshots from 1986 awesome movie "Dress Gray". Ribbons on right side are in wrong precedence.
firefighter Posted January 24, 2018 #233 Posted January 24, 2018 From SNL. The actor is suppose to be the White House doctor. Looks like they did a pretty good job. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
Kurt_E Posted February 28, 2018 #234 Posted February 28, 2018 Jensen Ackles as Col. Winchester in one of "Supernatural" episodes (Season 8, ep.20). All messed up for 1951. Fails are: Colonels insignia on shirt's collar (think he got USMC or Navy shirt), NDSM ribbon (and wrong order of precedence I believe), merrowed edged SSI.

More importantly on the patch was that this one was not around in 1951 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Army_Health_Services_Command
Kurt_E Posted March 1, 2018 #236 Posted March 1, 2018 And the nameplate!! Couldn't happen in 1951 too
atb Posted March 1, 2018 #237 Posted March 1, 2018 The National Defense Service Medal was not established until 1953.
patches Posted March 1, 2018 #238 Posted March 1, 2018 And the nameplate!! Couldn't happen in 1951 too That's right, plastic nameplates of this type start be seen starting in the 56-57 period, these plastic types being among a few different types of plates, fobs and tags in use, till the Army put the Whoa Nelly on them and standardized the plastic type as thee type for then on.
Kurt_E Posted March 1, 2018 #239 Posted March 1, 2018 The National Defense Service Medal was not established until 1953. Yup, I mentioned it in my post.
Kurt_E Posted May 14, 2018 #241 Posted May 14, 2018 Clint Eastwood as Gunny Tom Highway in "Heartbreak Ridge" (1987)
joeclown Posted June 3, 2018 #244 Posted June 3, 2018 Might be wrong but isn't Gunny Highways ribbons a bit out of precedence as regards to the Navy Achievement, Navy commendation, Purple Heart and the Bronze Star? And also from what is said in the movie about his conduct, I don't see that there should have been that many stars on the Good Conduct Ribbon.

The ribbons are in the correct order for when the movie was set (1983). The Purple Heart wasn't elevated above the Achievement Medals until 1985.
Jim T Posted June 24, 2018 #246 Posted June 24, 2018 How can we not recognize this classic..... Not quite Hollywood but Warner Bros.Television is probably close enough. (adapted from and credit to Wikipedia) …….
patches Posted June 24, 2018 #247 Posted June 24, 2018 I bet there's a 3rd Award CIB under there, seeing he's got service ribbons for WWII, Korea and Vietnam
