patches Posted September 22, 2019 Share #354 Posted September 22, 2019 Actor Richard Carlson (Himself a WWII Navy vet) and his rack in the 1952 Retreat Hell, Carlson's character Captain Paul Hansen (posing with actress Anita Louise who played his Wife in the film) was as you remember a involuntary recall WWII vet, so nice array of Pacific War ribbons we're seeing there. aerialbridge Posted September 23, 2019 Share #355 Posted September 23, 2019 I think this may be the first Hollywood animation US Medal in this illustrious thread, but it won't be the last. From the 2009 Disney movie "The Princess and the Frog" (that I watched with my daughter this weekend) From the net- "Tiana’s dad James received a US Army Distinguished Service Cross [during World War I). It is assumed he was bestowed this honor posthumously. The Distinguished Service Cross is awarded to soldiers for acts of extraordinary heroism. It is also very unlikely, as black soldiers seldom received any medals until the full integration of the Armed Forces, post World War Two." patches Posted November 13, 2019 Share #369 Posted November 13, 2019 And a Twofer of Carroll O'Conner's two portrayals of Generals in those two movies, the racks look similar, but I think the one as Bolt has one less ribbon on the top row, and the purple Heart starts off the second row, while Colt's PH is on the end of the top row with what looks like the Soldiers Medal starting the second row off As Gen Bolt in What Did You Do in the War Daddy 1966 As Gen Colt in Kelly's Heroes 1970.
