memphis_belle Posted July 15, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 15, 2015 Hi, I am a co-founder and member of Stowarzyszenie Historyczne „V for Victory” (Historical Association ‘V for Victory’) based in Poland (Europe). We portray regular GIs of different units and theaters of operation (WWII). There’s also a female section in our group which portrays Army Nurses. Today, I’d like to share with you a couple of pictures that were taken last week during the biggest re-enactment event in Poland. Our impressions were GIs of the 31st Infantry Regiment and Army Nurses serving in General Hospital #1 during the Battle of Bataan in 1941/1942. We are open to suggestions. sundance Posted July 16, 2015 Share #6 Posted July 16, 2015 That had to take one heck of a lot of preparation. Do the re-enactors build the sets? I wish we had an event like that in my neck of the woods.
memphis_belle Posted July 16, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted July 16, 2015 Thanks, guys! I really appreciate your comments. sundance - yes, each group prepares its own set. We bought wood beams, bamboos, reed mats, nails and everything. We even sent one guy to the swamps to cut some sweet flag for the roof It took us 2.5 days to build it but we enjoyed doing it. We actually won a trophy for best display.

Government Issue Posted July 22, 2015 Share #11 Posted July 22, 2015 The photos just make me smile. I'm not a fan of reenacting in the sense of how I usually have seen it done, but I do support it when it's done right and well. You guys have set the bar from my standpoint for how "reenacting" should be done. You either do it right or don't do it at all. Everything looks period to Bataan in '42. I love the radio and the magazines especially the one with 'ol Dug out Doug. Even, the idea and execution of Nurses' impressions is beyond what most people would do. I love it and as I said I'm all smiles. Keep up the good work, and I'm looking forward to what you do next!
BOLO Posted July 22, 2015 Share #12 Posted July 22, 2015 do you have Filipinos in Poland? your reenactment would look even more authentic if you had some Filipinos posing as locals or possibly Filipino Scouts or some villagers walking down a road
gwb123 Posted July 25, 2015 Share #13 Posted July 25, 2015 Very nice. This is a period often overlooked in US Military history.
