gwb123 Posted July 16, 2015 Share #14 Posted July 16, 2015 Sorry if the pics are repeated/ messed up... Am still trying to figure out this posting pics thing. Was trying to edit from my IPad but couldn't. Your photos came through just fine. I edited some of the duplicates. We have had others post photos from this museum before. The have been comments about how inaccurate the paint schemes are on these, especially the aircraft. The explanation we have had is that the climate is rather harsh on static display aircraft, and they have to be frequently repainted. Also, you will notice there are no ARVN markings on any of the exhibits. My guess is that the museum would prefer to use US marking rather than even acknowledge the existence or forces of the former South Vietnam. Most of these aircraft and vehicles were South Vietnamese and captured in 1975. The official narrative from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam has always been that the war was a straightforward affair against a foreign power. Anything that references the civil war aspect of the conflict is , quite literally, "painted over."
