oldabewla Posted July 13, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 13, 2015 I would like to share this with the guys that enjoy military ships and vessel history. I purchased this very cool 8" inch diameter round Civil War era steam river boat gauge not far from RockIsland, ILL were it's from. The last patent date listed on it is 1859 and with RockIsland island or Fort Armstrong being one of the CSA POW camp during the Civil War I'm sure many of CSA POW were shipped to the POW camp on riverboats of the time. Only if it could talk?

MWalsh Posted July 25, 2015 Share #6 Posted July 25, 2015 That thing is GREAT! Is the steamship design actually etched or cast info the metal? Will you be mounting that in a frame or something? It's quite a piece.
oldabewla Posted July 26, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted July 26, 2015 Hey Mike, It's etched in the brass face. I'm not for sure what to do with it yet? but might mount it on a frame? When I look at it, it reminds me of the river boat that sank in Kansas and found a few years ago and the one that sank with the Andersville POW's on it.
