Great morning in Michigan! Purple Hearts, Wings, Patches, Knives and more!

Recommended Posts

Picked this stuff up today (well, one of the Purple Hearts was yesterday). Had a lot of fun grabbing it all, and even more fun going through it and doing the research. Some of this stuff is not my normal fair, but its fun to learn about.

The Purple Hearts are both KIA Airmen, but i have not done any in depth research yet. The picture is signed on the bottom, Cant make out the signature, but im told the dog tags belong to the man in the picture getting the medal. I believe it reads " ? congratulations for a richly deserved award, A*** (Arthur?) t ?? Brig Gen USA"

The mini wings are marked sterling. The navigator wings are marked Sydney, Angus and ?? (my eyes!) . The knfe is an RH Pal 36

As always comments welcome ! Thanks for looking

Those navigator wings should be Angus & Coote, and that's a hard to find set. Nice grabs, Jay.

Great haul!That's a nice Aussie Wing.Rip to those KIA Heroes.

High Flight

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth

And danced the skies on laughter-silver wings;

Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth

Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hovering there

I've chased the shouting wind along and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long delirious, burning blue

I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,

where never lark, or even eagle flew;

and while, with silent, lifting mind I've trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

John Gillespie Magee, Jr.
