mtnman Posted August 29, 2015 Share #12 Posted August 29, 2015 CANNOT be overstated, the historical value of this collection noting the companies involved, as well as the individual silversmiths adding their consummate skills to the field, in the manufacture of Military Aviation Insignia. WELL DONE GENTLEMEN, and any LADIES of our collecting community contributing as well.

cwnorma Posted February 4, 2017 Author Share #21 Posted February 4, 2017 Another apparent retailer of the "N.S, Meyer-type" wing. Brand-Chatillon was a 5th Avenue, New York retailer of high end luxury goods:
cwnorma Posted February 4, 2017 Author Share #22 Posted February 4, 2017 M.C. Lilley was a well-known manufacturer of military uniforms, insignia and society goods in Columbus, Ohio: Interestingly, it appears as though this insignia is the same as the one in the illustration. Perhaps we can now identify this well-made, handsome insignia as having been made by M.C. Lilley:
cwnorma Posted February 4, 2017 Author Share #23 Posted February 4, 2017 The MC Lilley post above got me thinking. I went into my box of "singles" and pulled out what I think appears to be a pretty good match to the insignia in this advertisement from William C. Link, of Newark, New Jersey;
cwnorma Posted February 4, 2017 Author Share #24 Posted February 4, 2017 Something of a mystery, the Bailey Banks and Biddle of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania marked insignia below does not appear to be a match for the insignia in their advertisement: Perhaps BB&B manufactured more than one style of Air Service insignia? Does anyone out there have an insignia that would be a better match? Chris
cwnorma Posted February 15, 2018 Author Share #25 Posted February 15, 2018 Interesting advertisement for "Bailey's." Wholesale only. Ask for Bailey's at Post Exchanges:
