svenfromsweden Posted July 12, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 12, 2015 I share with you some pictures showing a flying P-61 with a missile under the fuselage. Does anyone know what kind of missile is this and was used operationally? The link also contains photographs of the plane now testing some kind of jet engine. Photos can be viewed by visiting the link below: http://aviacaoemfloripa.blogspot.com.br/2011/02/p-61-black-widow-em-testes-especiais.html Sven
1SG_1st_Cav Posted July 13, 2015 Share #2 Posted July 13, 2015 I think the P-61 with the mount underneath with flames coming out was a rocket booster kit to help with increasing the speed. In Vietnam, I saw C-123s using JTO ]Jet Take Off] systems to help with taking off from the short runway at LZ Stud when we were "assisting the USMC in beating back the two NVA Divisions that were strangling them at Khe Sanh in March-April 1968." Here is a link if you want to know more about Operation Pegasus Link:http://time.com/3880754/khe-sanh-and-operation-pegasus-scenes-from-vietnam-1968/ This first picture you will see was taken by Larry Burrows of Life Magazine. The guidon you see in the picture hangs in our 30th Field Artillery Regimental Room in Snow Hall, at Ft Sill, Oklahoma,

Swifter Posted July 25, 2017 Share #4 Posted July 25, 2017 Definitely some interesting pix of postwar weapons testing. Photos 2 and 6 are of an F-15, not a P-61.
