KurtA Posted July 7, 2015 Share #7 Posted July 7, 2015 I wonder why the branch color on the shoulder strap is not Infantry blue?

atb Posted July 12, 2015 Share #9 Posted July 12, 2015 I wonder why the branch color on the shoulder strap is not Infantry blue? Because it is not the US Army 3d Infantry (The Old Guard). There was in the 19th C. (and maybe still is) a NY state guard "marching and chowder society" nicknamed the Old Guard. The US Army Old Guard never had exclusive use of the nickname. atb Posted July 12, 2015 Share #10 Posted July 12, 2015 But, I guess that still doesn't clear up Infantry brass and red shoulder straps. Because it is not the US Army 3d Infantry (The Old Guard). There was in the 19th C. (and maybe still is) a NY state guard "marching and chowder society" nicknamed the Old Guard. The US Army Old Guard never had exclusive use of the nickname.
