Second World War Training Munitions

Picked up this weekend at the monthly flea market in Nashville, TN.

This is one heavy SOB. While the metal weighs in, the body of this first shell is made of wood - and is also damned heavy. I believe that the top of the shell is set up so that Soldiers training with it could practice installing fuses. Could be wrong.

I did get a few interesting looks as I carried this over my shoulder through the market back to my truck!

Anyone knowing anything on this - I'd love to get feedback on what I have here.

Smaller practice round - this one is a single-pieced item, with holes near the top.

Anti-Aircraft round? I'd like input if anyone knows.

The first one looks like a Navy 3" 50 Cal. training round without the fuse. The second one appears to be a 40mm Bofors training round.

Thanks for showing them.

Attended the Nashville Flea market when I was stationed at Ft. Campbell many moons ago. Good finds!
