cerick1450 Posted June 24, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 24, 2015 I came across this 1935 dated canteen pouch. The steel clip spring is broken, but the rest of the pouch and leather are in excellent condition. The canteen is post war. So without a canteen, does this pouch have much value? patches Posted June 24, 2015 Share #3 Posted June 24, 2015 It's a mounted canteen cover, one used by the cavalry.

gitana Posted June 24, 2015 Share #5 Posted June 24, 2015 By itself, $30-$40 maybe. With a nice canteen and cup, I see them sell for $50-$60 sometimes.
B229 Posted June 24, 2015 Share #6 Posted June 24, 2015 It's a mounted canteen cover, one used by the cavalry. And any other mounted personnel, such as artillery.
gitana Posted June 25, 2015 Share #7 Posted June 25, 2015 I have one from the inter-war period and found that these were issued to officers (who were mounted) while their subordinates were issued infantry style canteen covers. Maybe it was artillery, I can't remember.
