BEAST Posted June 18, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 18, 2015 These were found at a local garage sale...unfortunately not by me. However the dealer who found them made me a good deal on them. One is dated 1943 and the other I believe is a little bit later but the date is obscured. However it is similar to my 1945 dated vest. Both of these have their dye packs and are in really good condition. Really happy to add the 1943 dated vest to the collection! The data and dye pack from the 1943 dated vest
BEAST Posted June 18, 2015 Author Share #2 Posted June 18, 2015 Data and dye pack from the unknown dated vest. Note that it is marked property of the US Government not Army AIr Force. This is also like my 1945 dated vest.

dustin Posted June 18, 2015 Share #4 Posted June 18, 2015 Your second vest is most probable to be AAF contract 33038AC3744 with a late 1944 and 1945 production

It looks very similar to the 1945 dated vest that I have. Heavy duty snap on the waist belt, etc. BTW, looked at your ERE thread again; you've got a great collection and display! Grant G. Posted July 10, 2015 Share #10 Posted July 10, 2015 Very nice finds. I have a few life preservers as well, but none with their original dye-packs. If displayed, is there any danger of the dye leaking?
dustin Posted July 10, 2015 Share #11 Posted July 10, 2015 The dye is a powder and as long as the packet is still sealed then there is no danger. However due to its age no rough playing with it and don't take it into the bath or swimming with it.
