Sparty On Posted June 15, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 15, 2015 I'm trying to research the 356th FG so that I can have a nose art panel created for a project I am working on. The 356th FG was composed of: 359th FS (green painted cowling) 360th FS (red and blue diamond cowling) 361st FS (yellow cowling) Can anyone help verify that the colors mentioned above are correct for each squadron? The problem I am having is that the nose art I would like done was crashed by a pilot from the 359th FS but appears at thought the plane was from the 360th FS. Only thing I can think of is that the plane was borrowed from another squadron. Thanks
TBMflyer Posted June 15, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 15, 2015 What time period? P-47's or P-51's? They did change their markings when they switched aircraft.

TBMflyer Posted June 15, 2015 Share #4 Posted June 15, 2015 I have the squadron colors as follows; 359th-yellow 360th-red 361st-blue They painted their rudders in the squadron colors as well as their noses but this wasn't until about Feb. of 1945. Before that they had an odd blue/red striped nose cone to go along with the checked group markings. Hope this helps, Mark
