Hello, I’ve been asked to help identify this DI but can’t find it in my ASMIC DI Charge list, which is a common occurrence for those who have access to one. I have surmised that probably belongs to a unit within the 28th Infantry Division due to similar descriptions of other DI’s belonging to units within that division.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

I think maybe it is for the MP company or Detachment, part of the HQ and non-color bearing DUI series.

Looks like a 27th ID HQ DUI. But different colors...agree probably a MP Guard unit

Seems like it's from an MP unit from the 28th.

Gentleman, thank you for the replies. I found the division MP company in the charge list and it doesn't match this one.

atb - I'm not familiar with your statement of "non-color bearing DUI series" can you please explain?

Some of the National Guard and Organized Reserve Corps divisions used a series of DUI's for the division HQ and the non-color bearing units of the division. These used the same shape for each division element (a disk, shield, irregular shape, triangle, etc. depending on the division), with a device superimposed and different background colors, usually based on the branch of service color. Division HQ's used red-white-blue usually. Non-color bearing units are just that, they do not have specific unit colors (flags) with a coat of arms and do not have a DUI of their own. Examples are the division MP company, ordnance company, HQ company, brigade HQ, etc.

atb; Thank you for the detailed explanation, I wasn't aware of that they did that.

Patches,

It's an unmarked pin back.
