maharsb Posted June 11, 2015 #1 Posted June 11, 2015 Can someone please help me Identify this pin. I can not find anything like it. Thanks
MikeK Posted June 11, 2015 #2 Posted June 11, 2015 It's an Infantry Regiment (post-WW2 variation from memory) but I don't have my references with me and can't remember which one. Regards Mike
tredhed2 Posted June 12, 2015 #3 Posted June 12, 2015 It's a 1950s DI for the 88th Inf Bn. Am TDY and can not review my resources for further.
maharsb Posted June 12, 2015 Author #4 Posted June 12, 2015 Many thanks for the help. I appreciate it.
patches Posted June 13, 2015 #5 Posted June 13, 2015 Interesting, as a follow up to tredhed2's IDing of this piece, TIOH has a listing for this long forgotten and obscure unit (They normally don't). http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil/Catalog/HeraldryMulti.aspx?CategoryId=8290&grp=2&menu=Uniformed%20Services Can't find anything more on it, other then it is not connected with the early WWII 88th Infantry Battalion which in due course would be redesignated as the 88th Glider Infantry Regiment of the 13th Airborne Division, and probably has a connection in some way to the old 88th Chemical Mortar Battalion, which did serve out in the Pacific in WWII to include The Philippines, thus the Philippine Sea Lion in Chief.
