U.S. medal collector Posted June 11, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 11, 2015 I am in need of the 741st FA Batallion crest for my Father's service in WW2. If anyone has an extra, please let me know price. George [email protected]
tredhed2 Posted June 12, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 12, 2015 Are you sure that one exists for the battalion? A battery, the equivalent of a company, would be very small unit for even UA insignia. Am TDY and can not access my resources.
patches Posted June 15, 2015 Share #3 Posted June 15, 2015 Don't think the 741st FA Bn ever had one George, James Sawicki's Field Artillery lineage book does not have one depicted. As the overwhelming majority of Field Artillery Battalions only had their Distinctive Unit Crests approved for them in the 50s it should of been depicted since the 741st FA Bn was reactivated in March 1952 till it's inactivation in June 1959 as a Reserve unit in Alabama. With these type of units in WWII, in the immediate post war period to be exact, there's always the possibility it had an unauthorized one. Do you have some kind of portrait of him where it looks like he's wearing DIs on his uniform?
