This first hospital supplement was designated Ration, Hospital, Special specification CQD No.148 9 September 1943. It consisted of -Fruit, No. 10 cans (apricots, fruit cocktail, peaches, pears and pineapple) -Citrus juice, two 48 oz. cans (grapefruit juice, orange juice and orange-grapefruit juice blend) -coffee 2 pound can -soup, dehydrated 4 pound can -sugar, granulated 4 pound can milk, evaporated, twenty 14 1/2 ounce cans -can opener, pocket style Some 97,500 units were said to have been procured in 1943 and 1944.
