pmanton Posted June 7, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 7, 2015 Syncros are devices that are electrically locked together. If a synco transmitter were hooked to a radar antenna then a syncro receiver could be used to tell which way the antenna were pointed. Very simplified--a syncro transmitter is connected to a sighting device. When the device is pointed to the target the guns would follow. The tester is simply a syncro that is used to test other devices. Turn the dial on the tester and the device under test will follow. phantomfixer Posted June 7, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted June 7, 2015 thanks Paul... So used in weapons guidance/targeting troubleshooting/calibrating..and assuming could be used with any electronic device, within reason, such as antennas/comm gear too? I found one and was interested in practical use...maybe none unless I have a radar guided widget floating around the house...
tfrobish Posted November 28, 2015 Share #4 Posted November 28, 2015 You wouldn't still have this lying around still would you? I'm a retired Navy Chief and used these quite a bit aligning radar systems on ships.
