B-17 Gunner’s Uniform, Survived 25,000ft Fall in A/C Tail, Stalag IV Black March Survivor

I have two personal accounts in my library of tail gunners riding their crippled aircraft to the ground.

 

One is from a 15th AF B-24 Liberator tail gunner who rode the tail down onto a Balkan mountain and sledded half way down the berg.  He was picked up by Romanian troops and imprisoned.

 

The other was from a B-17 tail gunner who ended up in a Stalag Luft.
