What's very interesting to me is not only did the idea of these vests spread to the US Army, USN, USAF, USMC, ARVN, PF, LDNN, CIDG, Popular Force, it also spread to the Cambodian Army, and Thai Army

Thai Army 1 July 1980. I don't know anything about Thai stuff, so while they look handmade, I don't know for sure if they are. Either way, I think it is possible the idea came from either the Cambodians or Queens Cobras soldiers returning from Vietnam. Or it could have been designed independently.
