Spike Posted October 9, 2018 Share #158 Posted October 9, 2018 Those aren't LDNN, they are Kit Carson Scouts at Ben Tre. And the back isn't cut out it looks like a large pocket. I have a larger image of this pic. This pic is also backwards.
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted October 9, 2018 Share #159 Posted October 9, 2018 Those aren't LDNN, they are Kit Carson Scouts at Ben Tre. And the back isn't cut out it looks like a large pocket. I have a larger image of this pic. This pic is also backwards. Thanks for the correct info! So they are kit Carson scouts for SEALs? Now that you say it I see it is a large pouch, makes a lot more sense structurally. Looking at the forward assist on the M16 I see the picture is backwards. Spike Posted October 9, 2018 Share #160 Posted October 9, 2018 KCS worked with any unit who needed their services. SEALs had pretty good success with them. The guy in the pic is Lou DiCroce when he was with Xray platoon at Ben Tre 70/71. They op'd some KCS a few times.

doyler Posted January 17, 2019 Share #169 Posted January 17, 2019 Found on line.credit in topic: Vietnam War Entertainers GI Photo Pick of The Day"Sergeant James J. Ross - Warrior 'Best Dressed' GI"- Coat of Many Pockets - 1970 FSB PERSHING - Most combat infantrymen fighting in Vietnam really don't worry too much if they're wearing apparel which isn't in step with the latest fashions. One exception, however, is Sergeant James J. Ross, who just might be a winner in the Army's Suggestion Program. Ross now qualifies as one of the best-dressed Warriors of the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry, with a coat he fashioned for himself.Ross's coat of many pockets is truly a unique garb to say the least. It features 24 large pockets for M-16 magazines and a pouch on the back to port a Claymore mine."I scrounged up the canvas material," Ross said. "I gave the measurements to our interpreter and he gave the specifications to a civilian tailor who made up the jacket for me. "It's really great to have on an operation," Ross said.Other Warriors are following suit. "A few others in my platoon have had them made too," said the functionally, if not fashionably dressed, Warrior sergeant.POCKETING IDEAS - Sergeant James J. Ross 2/12 Warriors shows off coat he had made by local tailor. The coat has many pockets for carrying ammunition and explosives.
