obal7 Posted June 4, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 4, 2015 I recent acquirred a grouping from a WW1 Army Vet and found a couple of medals and ribbons that I could not identify. If at all possible, I would like some help identifying these. Thanks.

obal7 Posted June 4, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted June 4, 2015 Thanks Jeff... I was thinking that the Bars were American Legion/VFW. This Vet was the President of the Connecticut Chapter American Legion. Thanks for the Id of the Army / Navy bar.."good catch!" This Vet fought in Mexico, and with the French, he has 2 pins...32, and an artillery pin.. so I believe he was with the 32nd.. Artillery unit. Had Croix De Guerre with cluster... and Verdun Medal too. A really neat grouping. Thanks again...the medal with the head of the soldier really intrigues me.. the back has, what looks like a sea battle scene. It came in a gold case. lettow Posted June 4, 2015 Share #4 Posted June 4, 2015 I believe the medal in the gold box depicts Admiral Dewey and Manila Bay. The one with the eagle is the obverse of a local US WWI medal. The location of issue is usually on the back but this one is blank.
obal7 Posted June 4, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted June 4, 2015 Thanks! Is the Dewey Medal an issued medal...or a Commemorative medal?
